About Us

HISTORY

Samson Polytechnic College of Davao was founded by Consuelo M. Samson, a native of Ormoc, Leyte and Faustino A. Samson, who hailed from the Ilocos province of Pangasinan. The couple lived in Leyte, but eventually resided in Davao City in the late 1940s to take their chance at a new place and start a family of their own. Although starting again from scratch, they both managed to make ends meet through their unflinching determination and hardwork.

The school’s matriarch is skilled in dressmaking, beauty culture, tailoring, baking, and cake decorating. And every week, she and her husband decided to save any income they earned every Monday for the rainy days.

And because of her skillfulness in these areas, her friends suggested that she would put up a fashion school and impart her vocational skills to those who want to learn. They suggested that the name of the school should be Samson Fashion School, but she refused since this name is already owned by another school in Manila. Eventually, their plan of putting up a school came into fruition and Samson Vocational Academy (the name was suggested by her husband) was established in 1960.

A couple of years later, technical courses were also offered to cater the demand of new enrollees. And the name of the school was changed to Samson Technical Institute, the pioneer in technical and vocational education in Davao City.

Today, the school continues to provide quality academic and technical education to equip students from the challenges of the competitive world.
